Himachal's highest peak in Sirmaur. 3,647m with views all the way to the Yamuna plains.
Churdhar Peak at 3,647m is the highest point in the Shivalik range, a day hike to a summit temple with views stretching from Shimla to the Pir Panjal. A giant statue of Lord Shiva marks the top. The trail passes through the Churdhar Wildlife Sanctuary.
A drive from Nahan through the Sirmaur hills to Sarain, the road winding through pine forest and past small markets. The trail starts from Sarain and climbs through oak and rhododendron, the forest quiet and green. Camp is set at 2,800m at a midpoint clearing. The guide points out the summit ridge, visible through a gap in the trees. Churdhar is not a famous peak, and that is exactly why it matters.
An early start for the summit push. The trail climbs steadily through forest, breaking above the treeline at around 3,200m. Churdhar's summit at 3,647m is a broad dome with a small shrine marking the high point. The view opens across Sirmaur, the Shivalik hills rolling south, the snow peaks of Kinnaur rising north. The descent back to Sarain is long but the gradient is forgiving, 12 km of walking that brings you to a guesthouse with a proper bed and warm food.
The drive back to Nahan through the morning hills. A short hike, two nights, one summit, a corner of Himachal that most people bypass. Churdhar does not need to be famous. It needs to stay exactly like this.

Sirmaur is bypassed on every tourist map. No commercial trekking company runs here. That's exactly why we added it.
