What to Check Before Buying
Does it cover trekking above your trek's maximum altitude? (Check the policy's altitude limit)
Does emergency evacuation cover helicopter rescue? (Some only cover ground ambulance, useless in the mountains)
What's the claim process? (Keep all receipts, get a police report for lost items, call the hotline BEFORE arranging evacuation yourself)
Is there a deductible? (Lower deductible = higher premium. Choose what you can afford to lose)
Does it cover pre-existing conditions? (Most don't. Disclose honestly or your claim may be rejected)
In Case of Emergency
- Call your insurance hotline first. They will coordinate evacuation if needed.
- Inform your trek guide. They have satellite phone / local contacts for emergency response.
- Keep your policy number and hotline saved offline on your phone.
- If evacuated, get documentation from the hospital / evacuation service for your claim.
- Contact Ettiq Trails at +91 88240 72726, we'll help coordinate from our end.
